Over the past few years, there has been a movement to choose a word of the year to focus on rather than a New Year’s Resolution.
One of the things we like about a word is just that the intent is positive.
- JOYFUL
- PEACE
- LOVING
- KIND
- LEARNING
Where resolutions can, at times, be focused on NOT DOING something…choosing a word is on doing.
Our Word of the Year is going to be INTENTIONAL.
Have you seen when you get on social media and get sucked in for a long period of time and forget why you went on in the first place?
Feel pressured to say yes to an event but you don’t know how to say no?
Or what about going to the store and spending more that you INTENDED?
Having our word allows you to ask….Is this _________?
Is this JOYFUL?
Is this KIND?
Am I LEARNING?
Or in our case….. Is this Intentional? Is there purpose here?
The great thing about a word is that you don’t get a sense of failure. It’s more of a check point.
Check- Why am I on Social Media right now?
Check – What would the purpose of saying yes/no to that invitation?
Check – What am I wanting to spend my money on? A vacation or a kitchen tool I didn’t intend to purchase in the first place?
Isn’t great to be asking yourself a question instead of telling yourself what not to do all the time?
