There is no shortage of stories, quotes, or even movies that could inspire even Eeyore to persevere.
- All you have to do is watch the Olympics to see the person who was told they couldn’t do it, and did.
- You can pick up a book about a successful business tycoon that never threw in the towel.
- A television program filled with sharks who never gave up.
As entrepreneurs, yep that’s what bloggers are, we see people struggling with this decision constantly.
Whether you are a blogger, business owner, or anyone with a DREAM (hello…most everyone), is there a time where maybe you should quit?
Really only you can answer that, but here 7 reasons you MIGHT……
1) It doesn’t keep you up at night
Honestly, having a dream is BIG stuff. It may wake you up at night. You may loose sleep over writing down ideas, pondering a decision, or maybe too excited to sleep about a project. If your dream isn’t a constant in your head, it MAY not be your true passion.
It takes a lot of passion to see a dream to reality.
2) Reading this brings you peace
If you are reading this with a sigh of relief, you may be ready to, let it go (cue the music). Announcing a dream to people is difficult, but even harder – informing them the dream is dead. Oh boy!!!
Don’t let the fear of failure keep a dead dream walking.
You can quote us on that.
If on the other hand, you are ready to leave a strongly worded comment about NEVER giving up, your dream is alive and kicking.
3) Confidants would advise to cut your losses
Hopefully when you started your dream, you built a support system of people around you to encourage your dream. If these same people would now say it’s time to move on, maybe you should listen.
WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT DREAM KILLERS! You know the people that tell you to quit everyday.
4) People aren’t buying what you are putting down
There is a certain amount of “If you build it, they will come.” here. If people aren’t responding to your product or service, you may have to evaluate the demand.
5) You can’t survive
You are asking friends, family, and the government to support you while you pursue the dream. There might be a small time you are asking for help, but if this persists you won’t be happy and neither will they.
6) You can’t share your business
You may think no one else will care about your dream like you do, but you will NEVER be able to do everything it demands. An athlete will have a business manager, coach, public relations person, etc.
If you are unable to delegate, your dream will only get you so far and then you will probably burn out. Plus, most people don’t possess every skill set needed to make it a reality.
**Know your strengths and weaknesses.
7) You are in tremendous debt
Most businesses can start small and build. If you have to keep spending mountains of money to make it happen, it might be time to ask why.

Of course, our intentions are not to be dream killers here.
We are passionate about our business, while we still have day jobs.
BUT…..If you find yourself in a situation where you truly feel like it is time to move on, we hope to give you the COURAGE to do so.
Another dream, goal, passion, or accomplishment might be there WAITING for you.
Often when we are talking to our kids about organizing, stay with us here, we will say:
“Sometimes you have to let go of the old, to let the new blessings in.”
Do you have a dream that needs to die and let a new one in?
