UPCYCLED CUPCAKE STAND
Over the years we have done a few posts that involve re-purposing glass shades from light fixtures. We made a Christmas tree and then a snowman and they are some of our top posts…..
|GLASS TREE PROJECT – GLASS SHADE SNOWMAN|
Since these glass shades are so common to find at thrift stores, and the ReStore, we decided to try another fun project..cupcake stands cause who doesn’t love a cupcake.
This can be a fun display for an event, girlfriend’s get together, shower or even a wedding.
Now, if you really don’t find cupcakes to be your thing, ????, have no fear. You can easily swap out a larger plate and use it for cookies, crudite, or just about any party food.
So wanna build an upcycled cupcake stand:
SUPPLIES
*Affiliate links used that will show the same or similar items used. You can read our full disclosure policy here.
- Glass Shade Light Fixture, in various heights
- Strong Glue, this is what we recommend
- Cup Saucer Plates, we found ours at the thrift store
INSTRUCTIONS
- Clean, and let dry, your saucers and glass shades.
- Apply an even coat the the glue on top of your shade.
- Quickly apply the saucer to the plate.
- Let it fully dry before use.
Note – If you were just doing a temporary display, that people wouldn’t necessarily be touching, you could just set the small plates on the light shades but they will not be sturdy. If you didn’t want a permanent situation, and didn’t want to just rest it on top, you could try hot glue. I haven’t tried it, but it should just attach and peel off.
If you’ve been around here, you know easy projects are a big hit and this one fits the bill. Have you ever repurposed a light shade? We would love to know what you made.
Before you leave, we would love it if you shared our project….
