Alert – Big animal lovers here!
Here are two little babies that just showed up here a couple of months ago. The orange one doesn’t stay in too often, but the white one is right at home and is such a cuddler.
We are thrilled to be joining this years Thrift Benefit for Sheltered Animals. It’s a great opportunity to showcase thrift stores that benefit animals in need.
*You can check out last year’s post HERE.
Obviously, we love thrift stores, and even better if it’s a cause we support. “Salvaging” (rescue from loss) animals is defiantly is a cause we can get behind!
|ITEMS TO FIND AT A THRIFT STORE|
In our immediate area, the nearest store animal rescue thrift store is about 25 miles away so we needed to make a day of it.
TIP – To find your local thrift stores, go here. Look for stores that benefit animals. You can also ask your local shelter if they have one or know of one.
We stopped off at a local tea house that serves ammmmmmazing scones and their tea is yummmmmy! The owners gave us these tips on the perfect tea.
Next stop, thrifting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of course, there are lots of treasures to be had but we are just going to share one little project today.
This small cutting board was a bargain.
*We used affiliate links, in our posts, to show you items used. If you make a purchase through one of our links, we will receive a small commission at no additional cost to you.
The bread board had writing, from a local business, on one side, but since we would be using it for décor, it wouldn’t matter.
A little of this favorite stain would be used to turn it into a bread board grocery list tablet for the kitchen.
Sometimes it’s the small touches to make a little project a bit more like an authentic look…..like a little twine added to the top.
A chalk marker was used to add groceries to it and then it can be wiped off later if needed. If you want something more permanent, you could paint the groceries part.
Pretty simple, right? That’s just the way we like it!!
Shhhhh, don’t tell. That little “bowl” is a thrifted glass cover.

These turned out perfect! I’m always looking for cutting boards when I hit up the local thrift stores – good scores and for a good cause!
Melissa, I agree. Cutting boards are always a great thrift store find!!!
I love the stain that you used, it had such a huge impact on the final design. I love DIY products that give you maximum impact for little effort… that’s always a win with me.
Thanks Tasha! It’s my favorite stain.
What a cute idea! I love that you made it fit into the kitchen and it is useful too! The cats are too cute.
Thanks for hopping with me.

Love, love, LOVE finding cutting boards at the thrift store- definitely something I never pass up. And I really do need to get me a can of Provincial stain…thank you for being a part of the Thrift Benefit!
Sarah, Oh, I totally agree….never pass them up. I enjoyed the round up esp if there are animals involved.
I have a beautiful board that I use as a feature on my coffee table! I would love to apply the same stain that you guys have done!
Have also thought of mounting a couple of boards onto my kitchen wall for a farmhouse/country feel. Any suggestions on how I could mount the boards?
xx
