Every parent doesn’t think the day is coming, but oh does it come.
Recently, having a regular conversation with our oldest, the question was asked about seeing the new Star Wars movie.
“Nah, I was never that big into Star Wars.”
HUH?
Granted he didn’t go around speaking Wookie..is that a thing?….
…..but Star Wars has been a part of his life with the movies (watched many a time), Millenium Falcon Lego Set, and the various toys.
NO LONGER CARED ABOUT STAR WARS??????????
What’s changed?
Well, he is 19 and in college.
He has a girlfriend.
He’s………………………………AN ADULT!
As parents, it’s kind of a shock to the system.
“What do you mean you aren’t into it?”
You were just playing with a light saber yesterday, wasn’t it?
You know that moment when a mother with grown children tells the young mom to enjoy it because they will be grown before you know it? Yeah, that’s a thing!

Disclaimer – We are not saying other 19 year olds shouldn’t have an interest in Star Wars. Most of the family is still quite into Star Wars around here.
UPDATE – Girlfriend wanted to go see it so his interest re-emerged. He has now seen the movie!
I was never a Star Wars fan, but I see this with everything. As a little girl I lover Barbies. Not so much as a 25 year old. My kid is only 3 and I’ve seen spongebob, Caillou, Daniel tiger, curious George and so many others have their time and now their gone. Kids don’t stay kids for long :/
Corinna, That is for sure. It happens so quickly! Thanks so much for stopping by!
I often wonder how long it will be until we have that conversation! My husband and father in law still go see the movies but I think one of our sons will not be interested nearly as long as the other!
It sure does happen so fast. Thanks for stopping by Jen
