Is there a confessional around?
No, I’m not Catholic, but……..
I knew going into this Spring Tablescape Blog Hop I would do a spring table setting using what I have….cause that’s me – Salvagesister!

HOWEVER, when you start looking around, you think…..Oh, if I could just go to the store for some strawberries. I need just a couple of sunflowers from the craft store…that’s all (lies I tell myself)!!!
In the end, I was a “good girl” and stuck to my guns.
When I wanted to buy sunflowers, I went out to my yard and got some flowers.
When I wanted to buy strawberries, I found a few bowls, I had forgotten about, to put over my thrifted napkins.
Yes, as a blogger, and someone who generally likes to entertain, I have a stash of thrifted items, but probably not as much as you might think. Also, as you get older you just have more stuff than when you are just starting out.
Tip – If you are just starting out, pick pieces that are timeless to purchase and supplement with thrifted items.
The toolbox was made, for free, at a local hardware store building event. It is fairly simple to make and you can change it out for each holiday. Perfect farmhouse centerpiece.
But why not just buy what you want? What’s a couple of dollars?
If I would have gone to the store, it’s true, I would have only spent a few dollars, but I would have added more items to our house to store. It would have taken time to do the errands as well.
Wait a second…I thought you didn’t have any strawberries? This is actually a display cake that I have up year around in a cabinet in my dining room. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen it before.
How many people find themselves with ~
- Too much stuff?
- Too much debt? (You can read about the Bible Verse that changed our finances here.)
- Not enough time?
- And/or a feeling of being “stuck” because they just can’t get where they want to be?
If this is you, welcome. This site was created with you in mind.
Chargers from Goodwill, plates, cow juice glasses, and silverware are our daily use items, napkins were thrifted, vegetable bowls were a gift, runner from Target Dollar Spot, the flowers are from the yard in a thrifted juice glasses.
I hope that you found a little inspiration today to fight that perfect image you see and get creative with what’s around you. You might just end up with something pretty perfect after all.

Nice to meet you! Your eatable centerpiece looks delicious and there’s nothing prettier than a daffodil from the garden!
Using what you have is a good challenge.
It will be a fun week of blog hopping.
Bonnie, I agree. I can’t wait to see all the tables this week. Really appreciate you stopping by!
What a refreshing pleasure it is to be greeted by your spring table today! I am currently in the throes of a couple of household projects (kitchen updates, bath gut job) which have prompted re-organization of the exponential kind. It is also Lent (yes, I’m Catholic, I confess), and I’ve given up buying things for myself and the house (other than things that will be attached in the renos). I buy/sell antiques and vintage items, so the rotation of ‘stuff’ is a given for me anyway. There just comes a time when purging and using what you have is very satisfying. I love what you’ve done here, and your philosophy, in general. It very much jibes with mine. Happy Spring, and I’m happy you’re part of the blog hop this week.
Rita C at Panoply
Rita, I am so thankful to meet a fellow salvager!! 🙂 What a great Lent experience…to take time away from items to reflect on this time. Blessings as you work on all your projects and looking forward to seeing all the tables this week.
Aren’t you the clever one! I’ve found that if I don’t go shopping, I don’t buy anything, ha ha, but you’re right, just because you think you need a sunflower, open your mind and embrace what you already have! Great advice and your table looks darling and perfect for spring!
Jenna, It’s funny, I found that too..lol. Thanks so much. I can’t wait to see all the amazing tables!
What a beautiful Spring tablescape. You have given such great tips for creating a tablesetting by using items you have on hand. I love to shop my house. It is the best kind of decorarting…using things you love. I hope that you have a happy first day of Spring!!!
Shannon, Thank you so much. It was so tempting to go out and get a couple of things but I love the cost of this =nothing 🙂 Appreciate you stopping by!!
Using what you have is an excellent motto and approach to life. Lord knows I have plenty of stuff! ‘-)
I admit that I do keep adding things when something catches my eye, mostly something vintage or antique that isn’t currently available otherwise. Thanks for sharing your spring table. It’s delightful!.
Sarah, I have trouble too esp if it’s vintage or antique. I just have to behave right now plus it keeps the clutter down. 🙂 Thanks so much for your comment!!!
These are such great points, a beautiful table is not worth buyer’s remorse! It’s the worst feeling to spend money you shouldn’t! I love shopping my house and you have such great items to shop from! Happy to be on the blog hop with you today friend! Kim
Kim, Thanks so much my friend. Appreciate the comment and am so looking forward to all the great tables this week!!!
Your table is lovely, and you have proved that you don’t need to go out and spend a lot…or even a little money to style a pretty table. I have really been trying to do the same thing lately, and I know I have WAY too much stuff. I wish I had pretty daffodils blooming here in Florida, nothing says Spring like daffodils! I love your wooden toolbox! I picked one up at a big antique and junk sale, but it is actually a little too big for using on my table like you have used yours! Thank you so much for joining us and being a part of this Springtime Tablescape Blog hop!
Chloe, I am honored to be apart of this great blog hop!!! I wish I could send you some daffodils. And here’s to finding an antique tool box but if not, it was pretty simple to make. Appreciate you stopping by!!
Nice to meet you! Your tablescape looks delicious!
Using what you have is a good challenge.
Happy first day of Spring
Fjolla, Happy Spring! Thanks so much for stopping by!
Lovely spring tablescape. The toolbox makes a perfect centerpiece. I love shopping our house. It’s amazing how we can mix and match the items we have on hand. Your display cake is lovely….great idea too. A pleasure to hop with you this week. Happy Spring.
Linda, The toolbox was a pretty easy make…I’m not a huge builder so if I can make it…it’s pretty easy 🙂 I’m looking forward to seeing so many beautiful tables this week. I know today’s were AMAZING!
Deb, you are so right! I am sharing my tablescape on Wednesday and I keep saying I just need this, or I should change that. I finally had to say “Let it Go” from Frozen-to remind myself that I don’t need anything else and to use what I have. As bloggers it is something we struggle with! Your table is so pretty and I love the cake “prop” that is awesome! The flowers are the perfect touch and I love your thrift store finds!
Michelle, Thanks so much. That means a lot with this simple little table. And I sing Let it go all the time. Well as I mention on the site, I’m a constant singer 🙂
Oh, I am a thrift store junkie too! love your onion bowls!! Pretty table, and I also think it is so fun to use what I already have in new ways.

Carole, Thanks so much. The vegetable bowls have an artichoke, onion, cauliflower, and eggplant. It’s a fun little set.
Deborah, so nice to meet you sharing our tablescapes on the blog hop. I love using what I have on hand, but I do admit to shopping to fill in or perk up existing items. You did a great job. I thought that strawberry cake was real!
Carol, Yeah I like to get items too. We are just in a spot right now where we can’t. It won’t last forever but I needed to not buy anything..plus I’m salvage sister 🙂 lol
That cake is to drool over. he table looks simple lovely. I want to make that cake.
Maria
Hi Maria, Did you see the secret on the cake? Thanks for stopping by!
Deb, I love your table, daffodils always make me smile. It is so easy to get caught up in thinking that we have to buy something in order to make something pretty. Most of us have a treasure trove within our own homes, and I love to shop my house. It is so nice to meet you and looking forward to the rest of the week! Beautiful!! Pam @ Everyday Living
Pam, Thank you so much. That’s my main goal, making the most with what we have. I am so looking forward to all these tables!!!!
Pretty spring table and great tips for creating a table on a budget.
Janet, much appreciated. 🙂
You have indeed proven that you can set a lovely spring table without running uptown for this or that. I also enjoyed reading your style of writing and how you described the process of deciding you didn’t need to get anything new. That toolbox filled with the greenery and florals is a terrific centerpiece. Happy Spring!
Lori, What a sweet comment. That means so much. Thank you!!
Wise words and a great post! 😉 Shopping the house is the best for creativity and our wallets. Happy Spring!
Kathy, Thanks so much for stopping by!!!
That Display cake Looks sooooooooo real!

Morgan, It really is a fun little cake.
Sticking to your guns! Great table and self-dialogue. I enjoyed the journey. Wonderful table and point well taken. Thanks!
Nancy,
It’s always so hard to not go out and buy just a bit more, but in this case, I could make do with what I had. Appreciate your comment! 🙂

Very Pretty! I love it. I pretty much have nothing, so I would probably need to buy a few things…lol, but would rather find at Goodlwill or somewhere like that.

Kirstin, Most of what I used was my everyday stuff. Just a few extra things here and there. We need to go thrift shopping!
