Repurposed Sweater Candle Cozy
Sweater weather is better weather.
I am a sucker for fall because I love sweaters and blankets and basically all things cozy!
Unfortunately, sometimes a sweater doesn’t hold up as well as hoped. If you have a sweater that has seen better days, did you know you can repurpose it? There are so many projects to do with holy sweaters. Today, we will share just one: a repurposed sweater candle cozy.
This craft can be done for your own home decor or to give as a gift.
Let’s get started:

INSTRUCTIONS
- Begin by cutting out a thick strip of sweater fabric. If you are using an 8 oz. mason jar or so, an 8×8 inch cut of fabric is ideal.
- Lay the jar flat at the end of the fabric piece. You should position the jar so it is near the top of the fabric, so you don’t have a bunch of excess fabric at the mouth of the jar.
- Start to roll the fabric around the jar, pulling tightly as you go.
- Once the jar is wrapped in fabric, gently fold the fabric over to create a clean seam. You can now add a thick strip of hot glue along the side and secure the fabric in place.
- Take your scissors and trim away excess fabric at the bottom of the jar. It is important for the candle to sit flat. Take any remaining fabric and pull it towards the center of the base. Secure this extra fabric with a generous dab of hot glue.
- Fold over any remaining fabric at the mouth of the jar to create a cuff.
- Finish the candle cozy by wrapping a piece of ribbon or twine around the mouth of the jar.
SALVAGE NOTES & TIPS
You can easily use a clean empty mason jar and battery-operated lights with a thinner sweater type.
Remember to make sure the sweater is not too high so it would not come close to the flame. As always, use caution with anything that would come in contact with direct fire.
