I had a several decades old metal ironing board, the type with holes that went through the ironing part but the legs no longer worked. Was able to take off the legs, covered the ironing part with a DIY fabric cover (no batting needed) and poked holes in the fabric to hold hooks. I attached it, upright, to the side of one of the metal shelving units in my sewing room. Then I sewed up some fabric baskets, using matching fabric, and hung it on the hooks. It holds a ton of stuff and the matching fabric means the colors of all items in the baskets are covered, making things look more cohesive instead of a riot of color.
