So Christmas is over and what do we have there?
Hmmmm, a pink Elvis clock that sings on the hour!
Cute….for someone else maybe?????
You might be a hound dog for thinking about regifting, but the clock is going to drive you crazy!
We all know that regifting happens.
But it can also go wrong, so wrong…..

Monogrammed, and didn’t know it!
There are some great rules about regifting from Dave Ramsey HERE.
Obviously, the whole idea of regifting is controversial because it was a ……..GIFT!
But what do you do with the 3ft fuzzy yard toad when you live in an apartment?
We have some SALVAGED thoughts before you regift:
1) Can you DONATE it?
You are allergic? Many non-profit organizations would love to have unopened food, lotions, soaps, etc
2) Can you UPCYCLE it?
Many times an item can be used in another way or you can use the bones of it. If the clock is annoying, can you turn off the mechanism and change the cover on the inside? Wine doesn’t have to be drunk, you can use it in cooking. Wine glasses turned upside down will hold a plate for a beautiful display. One word here, Pinterest!
3) Can it be SHARED?
Instead of regifting items, can you just share them? A friend sent you a meat lovers basket and you decided to go vegetarian for the New Year. Why not have a party? Invite others over and put out the spread, with some veggies items for you.
4) Can you EXCHANGE it?
Maybe that pan is the wrong size and you can just get one closer to what you may need. Even gift cards can be exchanged via online (just search gift card exchange).
5) Can you SAVE it?
Often times we may think we don’t need something, like too many towels, and yet as you live life you realize there is no such thing. Don’t be a hoarder, but your style may change, you can use it a little while from now, etc. This may be an item you can just hold on to and see if you can use it before it goes.
6) Can you have FUN with it?
Okay, a White Elephant Exchange might still be considered regifting, but it’s a PARTY. That 3 tiered pink flamingo platter might be the hit of the night.
What are your thoughts on regifting?

Thank you Mary for stopping by.
I think regifting is great IF you know the person you’re giving to will love it. Also, a bottle is always great to take along when invited to dinner or a party so that bottle of wine will come in handy at some time during the year. Your tips are great, in true Salvage Sister style! Happy New Year to you and your family.
Happy New Year to you to my friend!
