DAY 4 is here and you better be ready to parrrrtey!
I am kind of embarrassed about how this Spicy Party Pretzels came about…kinda. Luckily, I know I am not alone in this type of stale situation. My solution, however, is not like most.
So…..there was this, already opened, bag of pretzels in the pantry.
Now, do you have snacks in the house that people eat and love and then, burnout happens? All of a sudden the breaks are on and no one wants seems to eat it anymore. This was the case in our poor lonely pretzels situation. They just sat there, and sat there, and sat there. Not uncommon, right? Well, this little bag was there for wayyyyyyyyyyyyy to long. Toss it would be the common reaction, but where is the fun in that?
I knew most stale chips get better with a little oven time. Then, one day I came upon a recipe for spicy pretzels. Now, I wish I had been a good girl and wrote down the person’s info, but I didn’t. I just took down the basics and used what I had.
When I took them to a party, not telling anyone about the pretzels stale past, they were a big hit! I mean BIG! Even people that don’t normally like spicy things, loved these pretzels.

Moral of the Story – If you have stale pretzels, don’t sentence them to death, resurrect them with this spicy party pretzels recipe! If you have fresh pretzels, try this recipe. Either way, you won’t be sorry! It’s a perfect party food and it doesn’t take a lot of time to make.

- 1 Bag Regular Pretzels (or the butter kind if you prefer)
- 4 Tbsp Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing Mix
- 6 Ounces Popcorn Oil
- 1/2 Tsp Dill Weed
- 1/2 Tbsp Cayanne Pepper start with less if you are worried about spice
- 1/2 Tbsp Garlic Salt
- Combine the ranch mix and spices in a large bowl. Then add oil to that mixture. SALVAGE TIP - After the oil has been added, take the measuring cup and turn it over onto the baking sheet. This will let any residual oil in the cup fall onto the baking sheet to reduce waste.
- Add pretzels to the bowl and stir with a large rubber spatula until pretzels are completely coated.
- Spread pretzels over a baking sheet. Take rubber spatula and scrap out any oil and spices to pour over the pretzels. **Taste a pretzel before you bake them. They will be better when warm and the spices will adhere better however you will want to test the spices to see if you want anything more.
- Bake at 200 degrees for an hour and a half - stirring every 30 minutes. If you are baking a double batch, make sure to rotate pans after the second 30 minute stir.
Love this – the flavors from the Ranch dressing mix must make these taste SO good! Easy to prep too.
Lauren, For sure!!!
