Christmas décor before Thanksgiving is quite the hot topic!
Go ahead and throw up a picture of Christmas décor on social media and take a stand back.
Comments will start flying. Some will be mild…
“It’s too early.”
“Can’t we just celebrate Thanksgiving?”
“What about Fall?”
{And some not so nice.}
Our family tradition has always been to decorate the day after Thanksgiving, Black Friday.
That’s always worked for us except…… last year.
By the time we got all the Christmas décor up, Christmas was over in Blogland.
Bloggers need to work like magazines and retail establishments. We provide inspiration prior to the holiday. We can’t do that when everyone is already done decorating. In fact, Christmas has been trending on Pinterest for a month now. It can’t trend if people aren’t pinning it.
Soooooo, that means we needed to switch things up this year. Our tree is up, lights are on, and decorations have slowly started coming out.
But isn’t that the beauty of the country we live in?
We GET to decide what works best for our situation?
Simple Holiday Decorating
AND here is what we have found about Christmas décor before Thanksgiving…..
When you factor in holiday lights, tree, presents, and home décor, it takes a lot of time to deck the halls. By starting early, we are going to experience the holidays in a whole new way. Maybe a little more time to help those in need and watch the twinkling lights with a cozy blanket. Who knows?
No judging here, when do you like to decorate and why?

We just moved to our new cabin in Sevierville, TN from CA about 4 mos ago. We were not even unpacked and my husband was already thinking about were we could put things for Christmas. I really didn’t want to think about it because it was hot and humid outside. We are still trying to find space to put things, as cabins don’t have much storage. But I believe we will probably begin decorating for Christmas this weekend. Next Thursday is Thanksgiving, and I haven’t been able to decorate for fall. Last year we didn’t take our tree down until the early part of February. My husband loves Christmas and I could probably keep it up all year and he would like it. I guess it just depends on the person. We probably should have moved to the North Pole. LOL
Sandi, How sweet! Yes when moving it is so hard. Without moving trying to keep up with it all can be difficult with all the holidays right in a row. Maybe you could do one of those all around year trees and change it up with each season/holiday 🙂 I think that would be kind of neat. Enjoy decorating and maybe someday you will be in the North Pole 🙂
