We are not perfectionists!!!!
Sure, we like a more complex project like our – Pottery Barn Inspired Mirror
But when it all comes down to it, we like…………….
done rather than perfect!
The Salvage Sister was on the hunt for a table runner for a side table that was given to us.
[Enter grain sack runners, stage right.]
There are some beautiful ones like this: Downton Abbey Downstairs Table Runner
But!!!!! Why is there always a but?
We needed something cheap, now, and with blue stripes.
(We is used loosely here. Like we are paying bills, we are grocery shopping, or we are building something.)
Ahh-ha! [light bulb moment]
First step was to measure out what was needed.
Who are we kidding…..no measuring happened, but you can if you need to…we won’t tell.
2) Next up fold over the cloth to double it up and sew together.
HaHaHa..truth be told we didn’t even sew it. The edges were trimmed and just folded the material in half.
Would recommend sewing if it will get moved around and/or your sewing machine is working.
**You can even iron it if that floats your boat!
3) Carefully apply Painters Tape to the cloth for your stripes. Measure if you feel the need.
4) Purchase some fabric paint in the color of your choice, like this amazing DecoArt So Soft Fabric Paint.
Or you can use leftover paint you have lying around.
5) Take a SPONGE and apply the paint.
Wait for paint to dry before removing tape (or 10 min like some people).
6) ENJOY your PERFECT or DONE Grain Sack Table Runner.
