Who’s all in for shopping in your pajamas?
Gotta love Cyber Monday….no parking issues, no crowds, no lines, etc!
We rounded up a list of ideas for you that are no waste (or very little waste).
Stuff that won’t be taking up space in the old attic, or stuff that won’t create a ton of trash, kind of gifts.
And really sometimes it’s just hard to find the right gift for everyone! We got ya!
NO WASTE GIFT GUIDE
FOOD~
Whether it be something local to your area or just something really ah-mazing, food is a great gift. Best suggestion, get good food, that they have a inclination toward, so it doesn’t sit in the pantry.
Anything here we share is because we LOVE it or someone has recommended it!!
Royal Riviera Pears, aka Christmas Pears, are local to our area but they have been shipping them out since 1934! Really they are the best pear you will ever eat, and they come with a 100% guarantee which is pretty rare. They totally stand behind their product and want you to be completely satisfied.
We just sent two boxes to a family member who dreams of these pears!
BTW- Their Moose Munch is also a big hit!
Restaurant Gift certificate, like to the Cheesecake Factory, is a treat for many families who can’t afford to go out.
Did you know you can also order their cheesecakes from Harry & David as well?
How about a Honey Ham for the Christmas Dinner?
*Wine, candy, and local treats generally do well. Make sure you choose something of good quality and that the person actually likes the item you are giving. “Thanks for the wine….{although we don’t drink}.”
EXPERIENCES~
Wanna get away with your friends or family? HomeAway will get you a home experience anywhere in the world. We have experienced several rentals and they have been so great!! Here is just one we have stayed at.
It’s not only a great holiday experience, but it’s economical as well as you can prepare some foods in a kitchen if you want.
If you have a crafter, cook, baker, quilter, photographer, artist, painter, gardener, knitter, etc. on your list, these classes are a really great way to go. I have personally taken a few and they are top by top notch instructors in their field. This is NOT a fluffy class! This is the real deal. They even have a few free classes so you can see the quality! Highly recommend!
Movies are another experience gift and again great for families/young couples/young adults who can’t necessarily afford this.
**Tip – Look for local museums, bowling alleys, sporting venues, etc. near the individual you are purchasing for.
CHARITABLE DONATION
What do you give someone who has everything? Donate to help someone who doesn’t in their name. Here are a few of our favorites, but make sure whichever you choose, it matches with the person you are giving it to.
Samaritan’s Purse – Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world.
Compassion International – Compassion International is a child-advocacy ministry that pairs compassionate people with those who are suffering from poverty.
HOMEMADE or UPCYCLED~
Making gifts are a great no (low) waste gift idea. Here are a few ideas:
- We have a Farmhouse Fireplace Ornament that would be good for a Fixer Upper Fan
- Food
- Here are some Wood Beverage Coasters that would make a lovely gift.
- DIY Coffee Scrub
- Upcycled Denim Purse
We put together an upcycled gift post for everyone on your list…even your fur babies.
OUT OF THE BOX IDEAS~
- Thrift Store Gifts – Yes, we are the people that are good with a GOOD thrift store gift (vintage amazingness!). Not everyone is, so know who you are giving to!
- Do you know that one scarf that your friend always goes crazy over? How about giving it away?
- Cutting down on your gift list. Got a group of friends that you usually buy for? Maybe you could all go to dinner instead. How about instead of everyone at the office, you suggest a white elephant gift exchange? Buying for a family…..get one main gift.
- Re-gifting can be an option. Here are some tips.
Christmas can be an enjoyable time of year provided we don’t create more stress than needed. Remember to keep it simple and reflect on what’s really important. What do you do to keep the holidays simple and meaningful?
