The weather may be frightful but this mason jar lid ornament is so delightful.
I try to contain my craziness, but the lid keeps popping off.
I tend to hoard keep mason jars around for organizing and craft projects like this sea glass mason jar and Mason Jar Easter Tree. With all those jars being reused, I needed a project for the lids.
Enter..stage right..mason jar lid ornaments.
If you saw the Budget Friendly Vintage Christmas Decor post you can tell the vintage vibe is what is near and dear to the heart here at camp salvage. But, the beauty of DIY is you can make it however you like.
So, let’s get crafting…
SUPPLIES

- Scissors
- Pencil
- Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
- Bakers twine
- Two-piece (flat piece/ring-bands) mason jar lids
- Cotton balls
- Double-sided tape
- Scrapbook paper
- Craft embellishments (flatpack option or full figures or animal and tree set)
INSTRUCTIONS
- Trace the inner part of a mason jar lid on a piece of scrapbook paper for your background.
- Cut the circle out neatly along the line, and double-stick tape it to the inner part of a mason jar lid (tape it to the side that has the rubber ring).
- Apply an even line of hot glue to the inner rim of the outside part of the mason jar lid, and place the inner portion of the lid (paper facing out) on the glued area.
- Pull the cotton ball apart to make it look like snow.
- Put in small characters and snow, without glue, to see where you want them to be.
- Once your items are positioned where you want them, hot glue the snow and mini in place; let the glue set for 1 minute.
- Cut an 8” piece of twine, fold in half; tie the loose ends together in a small knot.
- Hot glue the knot and string ends generously to the center of the backside of the ornament.
