I was siting in the school pick up line, a few years back. waiting for my kids. Tears trickling down my face as I just said goodbye to my friends I’ve known for years it seemed. I knew everything about their lives……what they were feeling, the troubles, the celebrations, the breakups, birth of children, the new businesses…..EVERYTHING.
For anyone reading a long book series you know EXCATLY what I mean. After multiple books, with the same characters, these “people” are part of you.
A lot of times, actually most times, I have to read two fictional books at the same time so that I have one to look forward to when the other ends. Anyone else do this?
Fast forward to a big move, in which we left so quickly I lost a lot of books in the process. Plus life and job changes that just didn’t carry the same routines. During all this, I kind of stopped reading for pleasure. Not that long ago, I decided to start again. It can be such a great way to wind down…unless you are bawling your head off of course.

Present Over Perfect – Shauna Niequist – Leaving Behind Frantic for a Simpler, More Soulful Way of Living
Already started this one, thanks to an Instagram friend. This book is all that!!! Shauna is relatable, honest, and inspiring. I have so many quotes saved in my phone, it almost feels like I copied the whole book over there.
Love your list. I have the Life in Season as well as Present over Perfect on my Amazon wish list. I’ve read Cure for the Common life. Good book.
I’m working on reading The Divine Dance by Richard Rohr, and finishing up one by Rob Bell called How to Be Here. Also started one called You’re already Amazing by Holley Gerth. I have a ton of books on my Kindle that I just need to start reading.
Another book I loved was Fringe Hours by JEssica Turner, and Improvised by Robin Konie
I love books too, but in busyness I just don’t take time. 🙁
kirstin troyer recently posted…UPDATED POST: I LOVE Paper!!!
It’s so true, the busyness in life can take us away from these things. You’ll love both Present over Perfect and Life in Season. And I can’t wait to check out some of yourrecommendations.
interested in checking out your list.
I love Kristi Ann Hunters proper romances the Hawthorne house series, and her other series. Also, Juliana Donaldson Edenbrooke, and blackmoor. I had never read regency Era stories, but these characters are rich with character, and you see God’s truth shine through in the stories that reached to me.
Linda, I will have to check out your recommendations.
