Have you ever looked at a space and just knew it needed something else?
You walk by the space and it kind of drives you crazy. You know it needs something!

OR
You needed something for your home décor but couldn’t find what you wanted?
The hunt for that extra item could be due to:
Time, “Who’s got time to search hi and low?”
Money, “How much is that again?”
But whatever reason, the item eludes you! UGH!
That’s what was happening at Camp Salvage!
The DINING ROOM MAKEOVER had a wall that just needed to be changed around and it needed another piece.
- First, the letters were a little off because someone (cough…salvagesista) likes to just nail willy-nilly.
- Second, the letters were the same size as the mirror (length).
- Finally, it just seemed like it needed something to tie in the space by the tree to bring it all together.
Now shopping the home is our specialty so a few things were changed around. The EAT letters were moved to the side of the window pane mirror. A sign and arrow were added and now one more spot was left to turn it into a nice gallery wall using what we have.
The spot was measured so we knew what size we needed. Now to be honest, this is the time you just want to buy something and be done. …anyone else? HOWEVER prices are what they are and trying to find the exact size and style is like a needle in a haystack. YOU BETTER MAKE IT WINS OUT!
Out to the scrap pile for a piece of wood. It was then spray painted black. The first idea was to paint a fork or spoon….PAINTING FAIL!!!
Then, a hanging hook was attached to the back.
Next plan, attach a serving fork (from a thrift store) to the piece of wood with super glue.
It still has some of the white paint from the paint fail but since we are on the rustic side, we were okay with it.
This Fork Plaque was made with all items we had so that makes it our favorite kind of DIY Project…FREE!
The wall is now complete, onto the next project!

Oooooo, I love it!!! It looks so pretty next to the mirror and it’s such a lovely size. I’ve tried painting forks before, but it never worked for me either, lol 😉 The whole wall looks gorgeous Deborah

Thanks my friend!!!
Looks AWESOME!!! You guys are so talented!
Shawn,
Really appreciate you coming by!!!!!!!!! Thanks so much!
The changes look really good. And free is fabulous. I am currently tackling the same dilemma in my living room and for days have been moving things around. When the budget is small, shopping your own house is the best way to go! The fork is a nice and quirky addition.
