Flytographer Dublin Review – Sharing our first experience having a professional photo shoot while traveling.
We are making photographs to understand what our lives mean to us. – Ralph Hattersley
First things first, we were NOT asked to write this post nor did we get this photo shoot for free or for a discount in exchange for this post. We paid for it as this was a big huge trip for us and we wanted nice photos.
*Being Salvage Sister & Mister we don’t pay retail when we can help it. We asked around and got a referral code for $50 for our first shoot. SCORE! At the bottom we will include a referral code for you to receive the same deal if you want to try it out.
If you have been with us for the last week or two, you know we’ve been sharing about our trip to Ireland for our 25th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY!!!
In case you missed it, we have shared Doors of Ireland, Surprised Observations, and a Packing List.
Today, we wanted to share our experience, and some of the photos, from our professional photo shoot in Dublin.

FLYTOGRAPHER PROCESS
When you first go onto Flytographer they ask for your destination.
After you enter your location you are given a list of photographers in the area. They share a little bio, style, and where they shoot photos at. You can look at their photos and reviews.
You then select a photographer that you believe would be a good fit.
Next, you enter the time frame (how long of a photo shoot) and location that you are interested in. You can pick multiple locations if that’s in your budget.
Flytographer will contact you to let you know if that photographer is available or not. If that one isn’t available they will provide you with another option.
PROFESSIONAL PHOTO SHOOT EXPERIENCE
How many times do you look around trying to find a person to take your photos if you want the pictures of you and your significant other? And now you have to hand them your phone and hope you get it back or look at photos that are really not that great. Or you can DIY and cart around a tripod for a great shot.
Again, since this was a really big deal for us, we wanted some wonderful photos for a keepsake.
The photographer took us to several different locations that they already knew would be a good location to shoot at so it was quick and easy. If you want your photographer to give you direction they will but you can also indicate if you are wanting to do your own thing to.
OUR PHOTOGRAPHER
Our photographer was Aoife and we just can’t say enough good things about her. She was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area which was so fun. She was open to anything we wanted and gave us more than we could have asked for.
The proof comes in the photos themselves!!!
Ireland is where strange tales begin and happy endings are possible. – Charles Haughey
TIPS
- If I was doing it over, I would have added another location just to capture more of the area.
- Another thing I would have done is have a slight outfit change. Nothing drastic but maybe a different scarf or jacket.
- I actually would have worn different shoes however I had an injured foot and that’s what I could do. It still worked out though.
- Talk and listen to your photographer. They have so much info to give about their home town. It’s a great way to get to know the area you are in. Plus, they might have good info on where to go, what to avoid, and food too. (I actually fell in love with the stairs and the garden shop in this photo below. I asked the photographer if we could get one last shot there and she was very accommodating.)
WOULD WE DO IT AGAIN?
100% yes!!! No doubt about it! It was one of the best parts of our trip.
Not only do we have amazing photos from this trip but an unexpected surprise was having that time with someone from the area. She is an artist (and student) and we felt like we were supporting a local young person in their passions. That’s what we are all about!
