In just over a week, this Salvage Sista is on a plane to Salt Lake City for:
SNAP Conference 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did you get the level of excitement?
SNAP is a “conference for craft, DIY, special occasion bloggers” and it will be my first blog conference………NEWBIE HERE!
And if you aren’t a blogger, I would encourage you to stick around as this post can apply to anyone going into a new situation.
I have read up on some previous bloggers experience and chat with other attendees to get prepared………………
But there are always unknowns.
- Will I make connections?
- Will I find my luggage at the airport?
- Will I fit in?
- ETC!
Going into a new experience, can be a little scary. ANYONE?
Thankfully, with age/experience I am going in more confident than I would have several years ago.
I am going in knowing some things I will and won’t do there:
I WILL…..
…meet lots of new people and have fun.
I WILL NOT…..
…forget I am there to learn and grow my business.
I want to remember to branch out and mingle outside my comfort zone.
I WILL……
….put my best foot forward!
I WILL NOT……
…..change the core of who I am.
Oh, I’m bringing some “new to me clothes”, but I am not changing what I normally would do…THRIFT SHOPPING! That’s who I am.
I WILL…..
…learn from others
I WILL NOT…..
…let comparison steal my joy
There will be people who look like they just stepped out of a magazine there, and that’s okay. I am not that girl. I was happy with myself before I got there and will continue to do so.
I WILL…..
..cut myself some slack.
I WILL NOT….
…forget to have my goals set.
I will be light-years behind a lot of bloggers, but I will remember the things I want to accomplish while there so I come home feeling like I got another step closer to where I want to be.
I WILL…..
breathe. (Breathing is good!)
I WILL NOT…..
freak out.
There will be a ton of people I want to meet, tons to learn, tons of everything! I vow to just breathe and take in what I can. There’s always next year!
I WILL…
HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even if you aren’t a blogger, I hope you will be encouraged today to remember who you are and who you aren’t in any new situation. Want to read more about the confidence in who you are? Click HERE.
And 5 blogging “rules” I am ignoring.
Have fun! This post is such a great reminder to stay true to ourselves, no matter what. Can’t wait to hear all about your experiences!
Pat, Thank you so much! I am so excited and will be posting on the experience soon!
Oooooh I am SO excited for you! I REALLY want to attend my first conference this year too, and I can’t wait to hear about your experience. I’m glad to read your list – have a great time and be yourself and you can’t go wrong!
Jen, I hope you get to go to one too! I am so thrilled. Will be posting on how it all goes when I get back.
So good! I think I would be so nervous too in the realms of not knowing anyone…When I read blog posts by other bloggers on the conferences they’ve gone too, I think “that would be fun”, and then I think “gosh, I wouldn’t know anyone”.
