Farmhouse Buffalo Plaid Coasters
What a second. Buffalos aren’t plaid!
Does anyone else wonder how buffalo check got its name since clearly they aren’t plaid?
Just me?
Well, buffalo plaid, in Scotland, is known as “Rob Roy MacGregor Tartan” with an 800-year history. It’s a long story, which you can read more about here, but basically it comes down the fabric was traded, as you might imagine, for buffalo hides.
Whatever it’s history, it’s just such a great fabric to work with, in any season. It is so versatile.
Today we are sharing these farmhouse buffalo plaid coasters that are great for your own decor or to give as a gift…no trading of hides required!
Plus, these can be a great way to use up fabric scraps.

I figured it was called buffalo plaid because anyone who wears a garment made out of it looks as big as a buffalo.
