*Some holiday stove recipes call for whole oranges. Since the oil of the orange is in the peel, we feel that this is the best use of resources. Eat your orange and use the peel here.
**Tip – Use a designated pan or crock pot. Find one at a thrift store even.
If you don’t have a lot of peel, use a small pot and a small amount of water.
The more peel, the more amount of water you can use.
Cook on low and be mindful of evaporation. Check on it regularly.
The cinnamon sticks can be used over again but we generally compost the peels and water after the day is over as most of the oils have given all they can give.
Not only is the holiday stove potpourri inexpensive, but it can be customized to what you like and have on hand.
Have lemon peels?
What about lemon and rosemary?
What about adding some ginger to those peels?
Lime and mint?
Don’t be afraid to play around with it.
Extracts are also really easy to add to your mix.
We hope you will make some holiday stove potpourri to fill your home with this delicious scent (anyone invented smellavision yet?) Please let us know if you come up with a blend you especially like.
And if you would like another way to use up those citrus peels, check out this POST.
