Turn over your decoration from one season and create a double-duty decorative banner on the flip side.
Have you seen the video of the lady who goes into Target for toilet paper and gets everything but toilet paper? One of her first stops is the dollar spot. Oh, the Dollar Spot! Who doesn’t love it, right?
Well, we got this Fall banner, for $3, and it fit perfectly over our salvaged windows in our living room. It was the exact distance needed! But what to do for Christmas?
At this point, you have two choices, probably more but we’ll keep it to two when faced with changing it out for Christmas:
- Find something of the same distance and search and search and search for the perfect one, or…….
- Turn the banner over and make it yourself.
The benefits………way cheaper, less time spent searching for the item needed that is nowhere to be found, and no extra storage needed!
Since it was a blank canvas on the back, it was easy to do whatever was needed.

Banner Directions (ish)
If you are a regular reader here, you may already know….perfectionism is not part of our deal. If you tend to love it perfect, make it that way. Get your ruler, stencil, and whatever you need to get it to where you are happy with it. We do a lot of winging it around here. No stencil was used. Just free form letters with a marker.
*You could also change out the ribbon if it’s important to you as well. Make it your own!
To get a balanced look, the word on the banner needed to be centered. We needed an 8, 6, or 4 letter Christmas word. We choose NOEL.
The letters were loosely drawn with a pencil and then traced over with a sharpie marker.
Time: About 10 min. It actually took longer to figure out which word to use than the project itself.
Easy as can be. Plus, this is a great reuse project. Make your stuff do double duty!
