Sharing some of the beautiful doors of Ireland from our first trip there.
May your troubles be less, your troubles be more, and nothing but happiness come through your door. – Irish blessing
Back in September, we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. It took a lot of scrimping and saving to go on a BIG trip (yep, selling toilet paper rolls was part of it!!), but it was totally worth it.
For the next couple of weeks, we will be sharing some of the tips, tricks, and beauty from this Ireland trip in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.
Today are the doors of Ireland.
And side note, I love the grand and the everyday doors that we came across.
Is it bad we didn’t know this was a thing?
I guess it’s an iconic image of Ireland, specifically Dublin, and yet all I have ever thought about Ireland is sheep, castles, cliffs, and GREEN! I guess this shows the lack of travel I have under my belt.
The doors became iconic from a man named Bob Fearon who traveled to Dublin for a photo shoot.
While there he was taken in by the symmetry and elegant beauty of the Georgian Doorways.
He created a collage as a souvenir for himself.
He returned to New York and contacted the Irish Tourism offices who would use it in a window display for St. Patrick’s Day.
People were hooked and purchased posters of the collage.
NOT JUST DUBLIN
Take every chance you get in life, because some things only happen once. – Karen Gibbs
On our trip, we were able to travel to several areas of Ireland.
Thankfully, the beautiful doors continued all over this amazing country…
We loved seeing all the beautiful colors of both the homes and the doors. Plus, all the flowers didn’t hurt either!
I wish I could stop feeling that I want to be an Irish girl in Ireland. – Saoirse Ronan, Broklyn
As mentioned, we will be adding lots more of our trip in the next coming weeks. In the meantime, here are some items we think you will enjoy:
- We have a few salvaged St. Patrick’s Day projects like this Thrift Store St Patricks Day Sign No.17 and this Corrugated DIY Shamrock Wall Art
- If you are interested, here are some beautiful doors of Dublin art on ETSY (our affiliate link)
- Finally, in the photograph of the Mister and I, and the one below, we mentioned the photographer on this photo was one we used via Flytographer. BEST MONEY SPENT! It was great to have a professional photographer that knew the area. It was a fantastic experience.
