KITTY NEEDS A SCRATCHING POST

You go to the store for cat food and pass by all the fun cat toys. If you have cats, you know that most of those toys don’t hold their attention very long. In fact, most kitties are just happy playing with your leftover ribbon. But to save any furniture destruction, a scratching post is a must-have.
We did try the cardboard ones, however, they make a mess!!!!
We had a piece of leftover scrap wood (when don’t we?) and some rope to make a DIY Car Scratching Post….and you can’t beat the price!
|HERE ARE MORE SALVAGED WOOD PROJECTS|
SCRATCHING POST SUPPLIES
- 1 Piece of Scrap Wood
- 3/8 Thick Rope
- Electrical or Wire Staples (2)
- Hammer
HOW TO DIY SCRATCHING POST
- Attach the start of the rope by hammering a staple into the wood through the rope.
- Wrap the rope all the way around, pulling tightly.
- Finish it off by hammering a staple at the top. Ours is on the side so the kitties won’t get their claws hung up on the staple.
- Let your kitten have at it. If you want to give them an extra treat, to encourage their usage, put a little catnip on it.
Too bad she doesn’t like her toy.
Since we had all the materials this project was free for us. You can compare the prices to something like this and see the savings.

What a great idea! Our fur babies have a cardboard one attached to their cat tree, and your right it does make a mess. My fur babies would love one of these scratching post, and I have plenty of wood, now all I need is some rope.
