Cricut Christmas Place Card Setting
Do you love setting a beautiful tablescape for your holiday celebration? We thought so.
Since we are “salvagers” we love using repurposed items like these Thanksgiving place cards made with wine corks or a Tide Pod Container Pumpkin Centerpiece Upcycle for our tablescapes. BUT, we also love budget-friendly items as well, like this BELIEVE word place card.
If you own a Cricut machine, these are simple to make and really give the extra “cherry on top” feel to your table. The Cricut machine is really a great investment if you enjoy crafting and making your own stencils. Here are just a few holiday projects to make with your Cricut: SVG Milk and Cookie Plate for Santa and this Cricut Treat Box; ENJOY
SALVAGE TIP – Don’t forget to check places like Facebook Marketplace, or your friends, for a used machine. You will just want to make sure it works prior to purchasing and buy from a reputable person (look at their ratings on marketplace as an example).
Today is our monthly participation in the Thrifty Style Team where some very talented bloggers get together and share all things Thrifty for your home. You may remember this Hey Boo Boo; A Thrifted Picnic Basket Makeover and an Industrial Farmhouse Toilet Paper Holder as some projects we have shared in the past. We believe this Christmas place card setting is another thrifty project that will make your holidays stylish and budget-friendly.
And, be sure to check out the truly amazing projects below! You will NOT be disappointed.

CREATE WORD PLACE SETTINGS
- You are now ready to make your project. You will have 1 strong grip mat to prepare. Place one sheet of Basswood in the upper left-hand corner of the mat. Place a piece of masking tape on all 4 edges of the basswood to secure it. Proceed to Design Space and select your Cricut Basswood Material, and following instructions within the program when to load the machine, and then proceed to cut. The machine will give you an estimate of how long the cut should take. To cut all the words on one sheet of basswood, it takes approximately an hour. Every machine and every piece of wood is different, so it may take a little longer or a little shorter on time.
- Once all of your cuts have been made, check to make sure the machine cut all the way through before removing the mat. Remove the mat, and then carefully extract the cut words. They will be delicate, so proceed with caution. It is a good idea to keep an Exacto knife handy in case the words did not cut all the way through in certain areas.
- Once your words have been extracted, paint with a brush with the metallic paint. Allow words to dry. Once dry, your project is complete. Add to your holiday place setting for a beautiful decorative element.
SALVAGE TIPS-
You could also make these with paper. We just like the wood as they are reusable and also act as a gift to your guest.

Don't limit this to Christmas. You can do this same craft for all sorts of projects and you can SELL THEM TOO!!!
Hmmm! I should have asked Santa for a Cricut machine!!! I love this and all the posibilities for so many occasions.
Haha. Maybe after Christmas sale? Lol. There are so many options. I shared a link on Facebook last night for a beginner bundle I found on Amazon that looked cool.
What a fun way to decorate for Christmas! A Cricut is definitely on my Christmas wish list. Thanks for sharing Deborah.

They are awesome. I shared a link last night on Facebook for a great beginner package on Amazon. So many things you can make.
So cute! Had no idea my Cricut could cut wood, thought only the maker could. Trying this and pinned!
“The Cricut Maker cuts balsa wood quite well, and it’s by far the fastest of the Knife Blade materials that I’ve cut. Some users have also successfully cut balsa wood using the Cricut Explore and the Deep Cut Blade. For the Explore, there is no setting for cutting balsa wood .” – from Hey let’s make stuff
Super cute idea. I wonder if it’s too late to put this on my christmas list? Merry Christmas!
