Ingredients Needed
When you want to make Cherry Pie Bars, you will need to have specific ingredients. The ingredients you will need include:
- Cherry Pie Filling. You can use any brand of cherry pie filling to add the sweet cherry taste to these bars.
- All-Purpose Flour. Use all-purpose flour to create a soft base for your bars.
- Pure Vanilla Extract. The vanilla extract will give these bars an extra hint of sweetness that goes great with the cherries.
- Granulated Sugar. Make sure to use some granulated sugar for a bit more sweetness.
Other ingredients for the bars include eggs, salt, and unsalted butter that you will need to leave out to soften before using. You will also need powdered sugar, milk or cream, and vanilla extract to make the glaze for these tasty Cherry Bars.
How to Make Cherry Bars
You can make Cherry Bars with ease. Start by setting your oven to 350 degrees and allowing it to get hot. In the meantime, grab a baking pan and cover it with non-stick cooking spray.
Grab a mixing bowl and add your cream, butter, and sugar to it. Start adding one egg at a time to the mixing bowl, beating each egg into the mixture when you do so. The next thing you need to do is stir in the vanilla extract.
Grab a separate bowl for your flour and salt. Pour the creamy mixture into the flour blend. Spread some dough evenly into your baking pan. Pour the cherry pie filling on top of the dough, evenly distributing it.
Place the remaining batter on top of your cherry pie filling before putting it in the oven and baking it for up to 35 minutes. Use a toothpick to make sure you have fully cooked the center. While your bars are cooking, you can combine the ingredients to create the glaze.
If you want a white glaze, be sure to use clear vanilla extract. You can drizzle the glaze on top of the bars after you pull them out of the oven.
Ways to Store the Cherry Pie Bars
Cut your Cherry Bars into single servings and put them into an airtight container to keep them fresh. You can refrigerate these bars to keep them fresher for longer. You may also want to wrap each bar individually in plastic wrap if you plan to take them with you on the go as a grab-and-go breakfast or snack.
Can I Freeze the Cherry Pie Bars?
You can freeze the Cherry Bars if you would like to save them for more extended periods. The best way to preserve these bars in the freezer is to wrap them in plastic wrap before placing them in a large food storage bag with a zipper seal. Place the bars in the bag, remove any extra air from inside it, and then seal it shut before putting it in the freezer. The bars will only take an hour or so to thaw out from the freezer.

The Different Ingredients You Can Add to Your Bars
These Cherry Bars taste great just the way they are, but you can add extra ingredients to them. Mini chocolate chip morsels go great with the cherries and the glaze that you will add to the top of these bars.
Chopped peanuts and shredded coconut are two other ingredients that will go great with these tasty bars. If you do not like cherries that much, you can create these bars with a different type of pie filling, such as blueberry or apple pie filling. You may want to make several variations of these bars to have a good variety of them available to eat.
