WARNING: Salvage Sister is usually not into boxed food.
“HOMEMADE FOOD IS THE BEST FOOD!”
But there are times when you need something quick.
Sometimes we like to do this if we need a quick dessert.
And sometimes, to salvage time, we use a boxed brownie mix.
GASP!!!!
So here’s……
THE BEST BOXED BROWNIES
Please note, there are Amazon affiliate links to help you find the products used.
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
This is the brownie mix to get! Ghiradelli, Really!
For a half sheet pan use-
3 packages of the brownie mix (we often find this at Costco as well)
3 eggs
1 C. Water
1 C. Vegetable Oil
Stir just until combined.
Easy peasy, right?
NOW HERE IS THE TRICK:
UNDER BAKE THEM!!!
The box says 45-50 min. Liars (just kidding!)
In a convection oven, these are baked at 30 min perfectly.
You know if your oven runs hot, normal, or cold so adjust from the 30 min mark. In most cases, these can easily be under baked about 10 min…AT LEAST!!!
Here is a picture of the finished “best boxed brownies”:
Slightly dried on the edges.
Let cool and cut the brownies easily with THIS!!!!!!!!!!
Since this is a good size amount, these can easily be cut and stored in a single layer in a freezer bag…… ready to go at a moments notice. Or if you want to double layer them, place a sheet of waxed paper in between.
Ready for company or for a lunch box treat!
And a final tips:
- Do you like the salty sweet combination? Take the bottom of your pretzel bag and crunch those up. Add it either to the batter or to the top. Drizzle with caramel to really have a WOW factor.

Love this! Will be trying it for sure!
Deborah, Hi my friend! Thanks for coming by. There are super simple but people love them.
In my Southern family, a brownie is not a brownie without nuts (pecans or walnuts) so, as I age not so gracefully, I have have to switch to a few boxed items such as cake mix an brownie mix. The secret to a great cake is also to under bake it by a couple of minutes. Even if a boxed brownie mix already has nuts, I add more. I also increase the oil by about a tablespoon to compensate for the extra nuts and then add about a teaspoon of pure vanilla extract. I also under bake the brownies by a couple of minutes. This makes the perfect brownies as far as my family is concerned. We like a moist and chewy inside and a nice crunchy edge. My son and I always fight to get the edges so we found a brownie pan that makes individual squares with an edge all around every brownie. No cutting needed and so nice and easy to serve. I think the pan is by Pampered Chef.
Those are great tips Carol. Thank you for sharing.
