A little patina, rust, and some unique items = backyard decorating with flea market items perfection. Prepare to be inspired with this backyard tour of Garden Bliss!
Hey there Salvagers!!!
We recently shared a junk garden tour that you all LOVED!!
So we are back again with another feature. This time we are honored to have Christine Bliss share the magical backyard that she and her husband created.
Flea market finds give a newly decorated place soul. – Emily Henderson, designer
Christine and her husband have created an antiquers paradise with fun”flea market” type finds everywhere you look, GARDEN BLISS.
FLEA MARKET FINDS
Christine states that she has been “junkin” for about 25 years. Her kids joke when their friends come over “don’t tell my mom that you like something or she will try to give it to you.”
For anyone who has been collecting, you know how fast the collection becomes quite large.
Typically, people think of using items indoors, but older items do so well out in the backyard garden as it gets this wonderful aged PATINA!!!
Note – If you want to fake an aged patine, you can use this tutorial we used on this Upcycled Lantern Stand With Patina.
Recently, they installed this barn door that was from her husband’s family property.
BLANK SLATE BACKYARD -> GARDEN BLISS
When Christine met her husband, the yard was bare except for one “shabby” Virgin Mary statue.
Now the backyard has been completely transformed into a magical oasis.
Who wouldn’t love to spend time here?
WHERE TO FIND “FLEA MARKET FINDS”?
Not every area has flea markets but there are so many places to discover items to transform your backyard space and create character.
- Yard Sales/Garage Sales
- FREE PILES
- Thrift Stores
- Facebook Marketplace/Craigslist
- Buy Nothing Groups
- Family Pieces/Heirlooms (there are quite a few “indoor” items that can be used outdoors)

OUR BACKYARD UPDATES
If you have been following along, we have been working on our backyard for a while.
We didn’t like the look of scalloped bricks so we changed it up while still using them.
Other projects we have done are a side yard walkway (that will be posted soon), and our own chicken coop and garden area.
Make sure to sign up for our newsletter for additional updates and more inspiration.
Until we are done, we will just have to pretend we are at the GARDEN BLISS!
