Many of you may know we were recently in Arizona.
We lived there for 15 years and just recently, (Is a year and a half recent?), moved back to Oregon.
We went back to see our friends, take our oldest son’s Senior Pics (he grew up here), and for our him to say goodbye to friends that are going away to school or the military.
If you are in the Phoenix area and need a photographer, Barbara Coldiron Photography is AMAZING! She also did our blog pics.
But there were places we wanted to go to while we were there.
The food, the shopping, and the site seeing is awesome.
It’s the 6 largest city in America.
One of the suburbs there is Glendale.
A lot of people know the stadium side, with the outlets and typical restaurant options, but we want to show you around Historic Glendale.
Sahuaro Historic Ranch 9802 N 59th Ave Main House tour hours are:We have had many picnics at this gorgeous park.
Cerrata’s Candy Shop 5345 W Glendale Ave M-Sat 8 am – 6 pm (closed Sunday) Tours M-F 10am and 1pmNow if you like mint and chocolate, they are famous for their French Mints. If you don’t, there are plenty of things to choose from. They will even let you sample a piece of the yumminess.
Need sugar free? They have that plus homemade peanut butter, non-chocolate candies, and much more.
The tour is not huge (don’t think major factory, think local candy company). It is an open kitchen with a long area for you to see and hear about the making of the candy there, but it is a nice little treat if you are so inclined.
Just down the road is…..
Not only are there many festivals that are held here throughout the year, but there are antique stores, local shops in Catlin Court, and some tasty places to eat.
Speaking of eats….
Haus Murphy’s 5739 W Glendale Ave- Mon- Thursday 4 pm- 9 pm dinner

Is a local authentic German restaurant that serves up amazing food. It’s a must! The food is delicious!
***One last bonus feature. If you are a bargain hunter, go to The Liquidators on 4224 W Indian School Road. It has tons of new items and returned items from Costco and other retailers. We have purchased our freezer, Keurig maker, shop light, clothing, shoes, etc there.
Have you ever been to Glendale, Arizona?
P.S. -If you want additional tips and tricks, visit our Facebook page. Not everything always makes an entire post here, so we share it there.
I have not been to Glendale. My hubby and his family are from Phoenix, originally. He still has family in Gilbert and Mesa. Haus Murphy’s sounds like a good place to try!
Oh Pat, you would love Haas Murphy’s yummmmm
